Wildfire Protection: Creating a Microclimate with Sprinklers
Wildfire management professionals know that the most effective way to stop an encroaching ground fire or crown fire, as well as to extinguish the firebrands that are tossed ahead by a wildfire, is to achieve three objectives:
  • Increase Humidity
  • Lower the temperature of the immediate area
  • Hydrate (soak) potential fuels, thus making these fuels less susceptible to ignition

Our sprinklers create a micro-climate that achieves all three objectives, thus stopping the fire cold. Our experience has shown that wildfires bypass the “green circle” of the wetter, cooler micro-climate created by our systems.

During the Ham Lake Fire, 100’ horizontal flame lengths were observed that directly attacked structures with a WSPS™ micro-climate. A witness stated, "After the smoke cleared, I was amazed to see the structures and vegetation around the structures untouched!"
